FAQs & Contract

Our Dedication to Quality
At Neverest Labradors, we are passionate about producing Labradors with exceptional temperaments and health. Every breeding is planned with care, ensuring that the puppies come from well-researched pedigrees and health-tested parents. Our puppies are raised in our home, where they are socialized and loved by our family to help them transition easily into their new homes.

Your Responsibility as an Owner
A puppy is a long-term commitment, and we hope you’ve thought carefully before making this decision. As your dog grows from a cute puppy to a loving adult, they will need your care, patience, and attention throughout their entire life. Training is essential from day one, and it’s important that you are prepared for the responsibilities that come with owning a dog—through every stage of their life, including their senior years. If you’re unable to care for your dog in the future, please ensure that you return them to us or find an approved home with our permission.

In accordance with our contract, all Neverest Labrador puppies are sold on AKC Limited Registration, meaning they cannot be bred. They are required to be spayed or neutered. If you prefer not to alter your dog, please contact us for a discussion about the benefits and risks of the surgery. Should you ever need to rehome your dog, please return them to us or obtain written permission to place them in an appropriate home.

NON-BREEDING AGREEMENT AND HEALTH GUARANTEE
This agreement is made between Neverest Labradors, the "Breeder," Mike or Desirae Pausma, N10994 Buckhorn Rd. Fox Lake, WI 53933 920-324-8858 neverestlabs@yahoo.com www.neverestlabs.com and the undersigned buyer, the "Purchaser,"

Name:_________________________ Address:__________________________________

concerning the sale of a Labrador Retriever puppy, the "Puppy."

  1. Health and Pedigree Guarantee:

The Breeder guarantees that to the best of its knowledge and ability, the Puppy’s parents have been thoroughly screened for hereditary health issues. Both parents have been cleared of hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as hereditary heart & eye diseases at the time of breeding. Copies of these health clearance reports are available upon request.

While no breeder can fully guarantee the absence of hereditary disorders, the Breeder guarantees that only healthy and sound breeding stock is used. The Purchaser acknowledges that while every effort is made to avoid hereditary defects, these can manifest despite responsible breeding practices.

  1. Puppy Care and Health Maintenance:

The Purchaser agrees to provide proper nutrition, regular exercise, and a safe living environment for the Puppy. The Breeder requires that the Purchaser feed only the high-quality dog food brands listed in the Puppy Fact Sheet, which will be emailed to the Purchaser two weeks before the Puppy’s pick-up date.

The Purchaser further agrees to:

  • Monitor the Puppy’s weight to prevent obesity.

  • Prevent excessive exercise or injury. Over or under-exercising the Puppy may negatively impact its health.

  • Prevent jumping on or off furniture or stairs and avoid slippery or damp flooring to minimize the risk of injury.

  • Refrain from engaging in strenuous activities (e.g., jogging, long walks, and agility) until the Puppy reaches at least 18 months of age, as these activities can harm growing joints.

  • Prevent rough housing with larger or older dogs that may result in injury.

  • Failure to comply with above requirements will result in the health guarantee being void.

  1. Hereditary Health Conditions:

The Breeder makes no guarantees regarding eye problems or bite issues. Eye conditions may be hereditary, congenital, or the result of an injury. Most eye abnormalities have no significant effect on vision, though some may lead to blindness. Bite issues, such as undershot or overshot, may not affect the Puppy’s overall health.

  1. Registration and Health Requirements:

The Puppy is registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) with a limited (non-breeding) registration. The Purchaser agrees that the Puppy’s name must begin with “NEVEREST” when registered with the AKC. Failure to comply with this condition will void the health guarantee.

At the time of delivery, the Puppy’s vaccinations and worming schedule will be up-to-date, and the Puppy will have been microchipped for identification purposes.

  1. Veterinary Examination and Health Guarantee:

The Purchaser may take the Puppy to their own veterinarian within 7 days of receiving the Puppy for a health examination. If the Purchaser’s veterinarian determines that the Puppy is not in good health, the Puppy may be returned to the Breeder for a replacement Puppy from the next available litter. No refund of any monies will take place.

  1. Hip Dysplasia Guarantee:

If the Puppy is diagnosed with hereditary hip dysplasia before the age of 26 months, and proof of the diagnosis is provided (an official report from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or a second opinion at a vet the Breeder agrees to, at the Purchaser’s expense), the Breeder will offer a replacement Puppy. The Purchaser agrees to provide all relevant medical records for review, including vaccination, spay/neuter, and any other treatment records.

In the event of a hip dysplasia diagnosis:

  • The Purchaser must submit proof of spay/neuter, which should occur after 12 months of age for females and 16 months of age for males but before 24 months of age, to maintain the health guarantee.

  • If any hip surgery is performed before the Breeder has reviewed the case and provided a second opinion, the health guarantee is void.

  • Veterinarian, Shipping and transport costs will not be reimbursed.

The Breeder does not guarantee against elbow dysplasia, although all breeding dogs are cleared of this condition.

  1. Rehoming Agreement:

If at any time the Purchaser is unable to keep the Puppy, the Purchaser agrees to return the Puppy to the Breeder. If both parties agree, the Breeder may assist in finding a new home for the Puppy, but the new family must sign a new contract with the same terms as the original Purchaser. The Puppy may not be sold or surrendered to any other person or entity without the Breeder’s written consent. The Breeder reserves the right to track the Puppy’s well-being for the duration of its life.

  1. Spay/Neuter Requirement:

The Purchaser agrees to spay or neuter the Puppy by the age of 2 years. Proof of the procedure must be submitted to the Breeder within 30 days of the surgery. Failure to comply with this condition will result in the Breeder reclaiming the Puppy without refund.

  1. Legal Jurisdiction:

Any legal action arising from this agreement will be conducted in Wisconsin, at a time and place convenient for the Breeder. The Purchaser agrees to bear all costs associated with legal proceedings, including transportation costs, court fees, and any other expenses, regardless of the outcome.

  1. Contract Enforcement:

The Purchaser acknowledges that by signing this contract, they agree to the terms and conditions outlined herein. Should any payments made toward the purchase of the Puppy be refunded or credited back to the Purchaser, the Breeder may reclaim the Puppy, and the contract will be considered void.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your puppies/dogs cost?
The price of our puppies varies depending on the litter, the parents, and the time of year. Generally, puppies are priced around $2500. Our adult dogs range from $1500 to $5000 based on age, training, and the reason for selling.

When do the puppies go home?
Puppies typically go home the first weekend closest to their 8-week birthday.

How do we get on the list for a puppy?
Contact us via email or phone to discuss what you're looking for. After that, we accept deposits on a first-come, first-served basis.

How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?
The deposit is $500 before the puppies are born. Another $500 is due by the time litter is 4 weeks old. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before pickup or in cash at pickup.

Can we visit before the puppies are born?
We welcome visits with the moms and to tour our facility, but all visits must be scheduled by appointment.

How often do you breed the moms?
Our females are typically bred every other heat cycle (about 12-16 months), but occasionally we may breed them more frequently under veterinary guidance.

At what age do you breed the moms?
We wait until our females are at least 2 years old and have passed all required health clearances.

How many litters do you have each year?
We usually have 4-6 litters a year, offering puppies in chocolate, black, and yellow (from light cream to dark fox red).

Where are the puppies born and raised?
Our puppies are born and raised in our home, around kids, cats, and other dogs, ensuring they are well-socialized and exposed to household noises.

Do you do c-sections and if so, why?
We only perform c-sections if necessary to ensure the safe delivery of all puppies.

Why do you give the puppies color or nicknames?
Each puppy is assigned a color collar based on birth order. This helps us keep track of them and refer to them easily. We also give each litter a theme and nickname the pups accordingly.

When can we visit the puppies?
Visitors can come after the pups are 2 weeks old, by appointment only. You can meet the moms but not handle the puppies until they are in their "safe period," around 4 weeks old.

Are mom and dad on-site?
The moms are usually on-site during the whelping process. Dads are occasionally on-site, but we often use outside studs. We can connect you with the stud owner if needed.

What health clearances do you perform?
Our breeding dogs undergo hip, elbow, cardiac, EIC, PRA, and CNM testing, as well as yearly eye exams.

What comes with the puppy?
Your puppy will have AKC Limited registration, dew claws intact, deworming, vaccinations, microchip, and a health exam by our vet.

When will we know which puppy is ours?
We conduct temperament tests at 7 weeks and match pups to families based on a questionnaire you fill out. You'll know which puppy is yours after this time.

What should we bring at pickup?
If the balance isn't paid before pickup, bring cash for the remaining amount and sales tax (5.5%). We also charge $50 for the AKC Puppy Protection Package, which includes microchip and AKC registration.

Are your labs English or American?
All of our labs are show-bred (English style), but many of our lines also have hunting titles, creating versatile dogs.

Can we keep the puppy longer?
We can keep the puppy longer at $10 per day for training and care, or $15 per additional vaccination.

Can the puppy be shipped?
Due to new regulations, we no longer ship puppies. You are welcome to pick up your puppy in person, and we can even meet you at the airport if you choose to fly the puppy home.

What is a co-ownership and how does it work?
Co-ownership allows us to retain breeding rights while you raise the dog as your pet. You’ll have the opportunity to have a puppy from your dog, and we take care of health clearances and breeding responsibilities.
